New Developments in the Pension System Discussed
Publication date: 17.09.2026 17:19:36An educational seminar was held at JSC “Uzbekcoal” to discuss the content and key provisions of the draft Presidential Decree aimed at reforming the pension system.
Today, changes in the age structure of the population, developments in the labor market, demographic processes, and new challenges facing the pension system make it necessary to further improve this sector. In this regard, particular importance is attached to reviewing pension appointment and calculation mechanisms in line with modern requirements, ensuring the sustainability of the system, and strengthening social protection for citizens.
The event was attended by Sukhrob Shovrikov, a specialist responsible for handling appeals at the Main Department of Economy and Finance of Tashkent Region, and N. Kalbaeva, Head of the Angren City Pension Fund Department.
During the seminar, participants received detailed information about the objectives of the draft, existing issues in the pension system, and the proposed changes.
In particular, the draft proposes a gradual increase in the retirement age, an increase in the required length of employment for pension eligibility, an expansion of the period of earnings taken into account when calculating pensions, and improvements to the funded pension system. It also envisages the digitalization of pension services and the introduction of mechanisms to provide citizens with more convenient services.
It should be emphasized that these changes are currently being proposed as initiatives. The draft Presidential Decree “On Measures to Ensure the Well-Being of the Population and Reform the Pension System” was submitted for public discussion on September 15.
Therefore, citizens and labor collectives may submit their opinions, comments, and proposals regarding the draft.
At the conclusion of the seminar, participants received answers from specialists to their questions.
