We know that one tonne of coal is not only a source of energy. It also represents responsibility towards nature. At every stage — from coal mining, sorting, transportation and storage — it is essential to reduce the impact on the environment. Therefore, alongside production volumes, the coal industry must pay serious attention to environmental safety.

Resolution No. 418 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 30, 2026, focuses not only on improving market mechanisms in the coal industry, but also on environmental requirements and industrial and fire safety issues.

JSC “Uzbekcoal” is carrying out a number of practical measures aimed at reducing its environmental impact.

In 2026, 5,000 seedlings were planted across the company’s territories. Another 8,000 seedlings are planned to be planted by the end of the year. The necessary conditions are being created to ensure the proper care and irrigation of the planted trees.

Particular attention is also being paid to reducing dust dispersion during coal mining, transportation and storage. Water spraying, moistening and landscaping activities are being carried out in production and storage areas. In particular, at the Angren coal storage facility, the area has been enclosed by a 3-meter-high wall to prevent the spread of dust, and watering is carried out three times a day.

The introduction of modern technologies to strengthen environmental monitoring is also on the agenda. Cooperation is underway to study and implement automatic atmospheric air monitoring stations, dust and gas purification equipment, and wastewater treatment technologies.

At the same time, there are still a number of challenges in the industry that require further attention. These include further reducing the impact of dust and waste, regularly monitoring air quality, using water resources efficiently, properly managing waste, and restoring disturbed land.

Going forward, the key priorities will remain the deeper integration of environmental requirements into production processes, the use of modern monitoring tools, the expansion of green areas, and compliance with industrial and fire safety requirements.

Environmental protection is not a one-day activity. It is an area that requires continuous attention and responsibility. At JSC “Uzbekcoal”, work in this area will continue consistently, taking into account the available opportunities and the tasks that have been set.
