Restoration of Operations at the Paxtaobod Coal Depot
Publication date: 11.11.2025 09:26:25A message has been circulating on social media that the railway section of the coal depot in the Paxtaobod district was allegedly rendered unusable artificially, leading to its shutdown, and that coal meant for the local population is currently being distributed through the neighbouring Andijon district (link: [https://t.me/komporuz/28035](https://t.me/komporuz/28035)).
The press service of JSC “Uzbekcoal” in cooperation with responsible staff of “Ko‘mir Ta’minot” Ltd. has examined the matter and reports the following:
In reality, the coal allocation for the Paxtaobod district is being temporarily delivered via the Andijon-2 railway station, in coordination with the Paxtaobod district administration.
This measure was taken because the railway track number 7 leading to the Paxtaobod coal depot became unfit for use: during an inspection on 6 November 2025, staff of the Andijon-2 station found that the unloading track had subsided, the concrete part of the protective ballast damaged, and as a result there was a risk of wagon derailment.
Since the situation posed a hazard to workers’ lives and could cause damage to the railway infrastructure, coal distribution was temporarily shifted to Andijon-2 station for safety.
Currently, coal delivery to the residents of Paxtaobod district is being carried out in accordance with the approved plan and on a turn-by-turn basis via mahalla community units.
All necessary steps are being taken to rapidly repair the railway section leading to the Paxtaobod coal depot, and its operations will be fully restored.
