Equal rights, decent work and practical care
Publication date: 05.03.2026 12:10:40In our country, ensuring the rights and interests of women and strengthening their role and status in society is one of the priority areas of state policy. Particular attention is paid to ensuring gender equality in labor relations, creating decent and safe working conditions for women, and supporting their professional development.
JSC “O‘zbekcoal” is also one of the large industrial enterprises that systematically carries out work in this area. Today, the company supplies domestic coal products to various sectors of the national economy, budget organizations, the population, and business entities. Nearly 6,000 employees work at the enterprise, about 1,000 of whom are women.
In the 12 branches of the company, women work effectively in positions suited to their abilities and with lighter working conditions, such as engineers and technical specialists, operators, dispatchers, crane operators, electricians, railway crossing attendants, switch operators, station duty officers, weighers, cargo receiving and delivery clerks, laboratory technicians, sample collectors, accountants, office clerks, and cleaners. Women are not involved in heavy or hazardous work. This reflects a clear approach aimed at protecting labor conditions and safeguarding women’s health.
The issue of ensuring women’s labor rights is also закреплено as a separate chapter in the collective agreement of the company. For example, one of the parents of a child under the age of two is granted additional breaks for feeding the child. These breaks are included in working hours and paid based on the average salary. Pregnant women are also given additional days off to attend prenatal medical examinations.
Furthermore, opportunities are created for women who wish to improve their qualifications or receive additional education, and their professional growth is actively supported. Special attention is also paid to organizing home-based work for women who are temporarily unable to work at the enterprise or cannot regularly commute to the workplace due to family circumstances. This helps ensure women’s employment, preserve their sources of income, and strengthen family well-being.
In 2025, 96 women were recruited into the company’s system.
Today, 343 women in the company hold middle-management positions. They have earned respect in the team thanks to their knowledge, potential, initiative, and sense of responsibility. This demonstrates that women occupy достойное место not only as employees but also within the management system.
The company also systematically implements social support measures, including annual financial assistance for women raising three or more children under the age of 12 (or a child with disabilities under 16), as well as monetary awards dedicated to March 8.
Today, women working at JSC “O‘zbekcoal” are not only the backbone of their families but also active participants in production processes, making a significant contribution to the company’s development. The legal, social, and organizational guarantees created for them serve as an important factor for sustainable development.
